How to Tell Real vs Fake Louis Vuitton: Neverfull Damier Ebene

Fortunately, most counterfeits can’t perfectly replicate the intricate details found in a real Louis Vuitton bag. So whether you’re buying online or from a preloved store to save money, I bought a fake Louis Vuitton Neverfull in order to show you the major differences it has from an authentic bag.

Step-by-Step Guide to Spot a Fake Louis Vuitton Neverfull Ebene

1. Check the Stitches

One of the first things you should look out for in a Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag is its stitches.

A real Neverfull’s Size MM handle should have 5 stitches on each side of the “V.” In comparison, fake Louis Vuitton bags only use 4 stitches at one side and 5 at the other and these usually overlap.

Did You Know? The “V” stitching on the handle of the bag is actually an “LV”—L when viewed at a 45° angle and V when viewed straight on.

Furthermore, as a luxury brand, Louis Vuitton always make sure to be extremely precise in the spacing of their stitches. Authentic Louis Vuitton Neverfull bags should have around 7 to 8 stitches per inch. So if you see a bag that is stitched unevenly and poorly, that’s already a dead giveaway your LV Neverfull is fake.

Overall, check the stitches of the bag before making a purchase.

2. Examine the Exterior Leather

Most blogs and videos advised you to count the boxes on the Louis Vuitton Neverfull’s exterior in order to authenticate it. I will teach you a way that is much easier and less awkward.

Simply examine the leather piping at the top of the bag. The box immediately below the piping should be a full square, unlike a fake Louis Vuitton bag in which the piping overlaps the box. This results in a half square.

3. Look at the Bottom of the Bag

From doing this kind of inspections on luxury bags, I can tell that most fake Louis Vuitton bags can’t perfectly copy the bottom part of the real one so I advise you to look into this particular section.

Real (top) vs Fake (bottom)

The authentic Louis Vuitton Neverfull has a unique square tile positioned at the center of the bag with the words “Louis Vuitton” embossed. Meanwhile, the bottom part of the fake bag has two distinct tiles that are usually placed at the sides instead of the center.

In addition, there’s a huge difference in the color of the bottom stitches between the two bags. The fake LV Neverfull uses black stitches in contrast to the real bag’s medium brown stitching.

4. Inspect the Interior Fabric

Of course, you should also open the bag and check its interior.

Real (left) vs Fake (right)

My authentic Louis Vuitton Neverfull has a leather fabric just below the inner zipper part. This leather should have the logo embossed in a matte red color. If the LV logo is in metallic red, it’s a fake LV Neverfull.

Furthermore, the interior fabric lining must be perfectly aligned, with no overlapping design in the stitching. An authentic Louis Vuitton Neverfull also has a seamed binding at the base in a solid color, without any pattern.

Tip: Besides the inside lining, you should also inspect the inside pockets. If it doesn’t go all the way to the bottom of the bag, it’s a fake LV Neverfull.

5. Examine the Date Code

The quality of the date code is one of the most important things to take note of when you’re buying a Louis Vuitton product.

A fake Louis Vuitton bag usually doesn’t get this right, with the date code embossed deeply in bigger font size. The authentic bag uses a font that is smaller and has finesse engraving.

So, if you see a Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag with the date code poorly made, that’s surely a replica.

6. Weigh the Bag

If you already own numerous luxury bags like me, it’s easy to know the difference between a fake and the real deal just by simply weighing the bag.

I found out that Fake Louis Vuitton bags are usually heavier than the original one.

7. Look at the Dust Bag

Most counterfeit Louis Vuitton bags today often come with the same packaging as the original. This includes the dust bag.

The genuine dust bag should be made of a high-quality fabric that is thick. It must also have the logo in color brown or navy blue for items recently released by LV. On the other hand, fake dust bags typically use the color red for its logo and the fabric is significantly low in quality.

Tip: Don’t be fooled of the dust bag or any other inclusions as most vendors include the original packaging when they’re selling a fake bag.

The Louis Vuitton Neverfull is a classic bag that never goes out of style. However, there’s a lot of replicas circulating in the market today that look like the real deal but couldn’t compare to its original quality. Fortunately, you can follow the guidelines listed here to avoid buying a fake Louis Vuitton bag.
