How to Tell Real vs Fake: Prada BN2106

One of the most favored luxury brands today is Prada. Established in 1913, its original and vintage design has been loved by many fashionistas (including me!) and celebs around the world. However, due to its popularity, more manufacturers are now producing Prada replicas that look eerily similar to the real one.

Fortunately, there are easy techniques you can follow to spot a counterfeit Prada bag. Here’s how to tell a real Prada BN2106 from a fake one.

5 Easy Ways to Spot a Fake Prada BN2106 (Prada Authenticity Check)

1. Feel the Texture

You can easily tell the difference between a real and a fake Prada bag just by simply feeling the texture of the material.

Authentic Prada BN2106 uses soft nylon in its exterior. As a result, the pattern is more detailed and smooth to the touch. Meanwhile, fake Prada handbags have a less-detailed texture that appears bigger to the naked eye and feels rough and studier.

Furthermore, if you squeeze the handles of the bags, you can feel the real one is much softer and flexible, unlike the fake’s hard and rigid material.

However, I know this is impossible to do when you’re buying online so read on to know the other ways you can tell a fake one.

2. Check the Zipper

I always check the quality of the zipper as it is also a sure proof way to tell an original Prada bag from the counterfeit.

For instance, you can immediately compare the color of the zipper of both of the bags. The fake Prada bag has a much more vivid gold-(yellowish) colored zipper while the real bag has a natural, pure gold color.

In addition, all Prada bags should have the logo engraved in all of its hardware or buckles. These engraving should be very detailed and easy to read. If you see an engraving of the logo that is blurry, drop and return the bag immediately as it’s a fake Prada.

Tip: Check the bottom of the zippers to know which brand manufactured it. Prada uses Ykk, Riri, Opti, Lampo and Ipi zippers on their handbags.

3. Inspect the Logo

Inspecting the front logo is probably the easiest way to spot a fake Prada BN2106 as most counterfeits cannot perfectly imitate the real Prada logo.

I advise you to carefully check the spacing of all the elements in the logo. These include the Prada Milano name, the ribbon, and a unique crest.

An authentic Prada BN2106 should have consistent and enough spacing between the elements of the logo. As a result, the font is easily readable at far distances and the edge of the ribbon element is sharp and distinct. In contrast, a fake Prada bag usually has little spaces which lead to the blurriness of the logo.

Did You Know? The Prada logo was inspired by the Italian Royal House of Savoy.

4. Look at the Interior

Sometimes, people get fixated on finding all the mistakes at the exterior of the bag. Little did they know, one of the most obvious differences between a real and fake Prada handbag is in its interior.

The genuine Prada BN2106 has two interior sections—a zippered portion and an open pocket. Below this open pocket is the inner nameplate logo. On the other hand, the fake Prada only has the zippered portion and immediately below it is the logo.

Furthermore, look out for the interior fabric lining. An original Prada handbag must have a distinct alternating pattern using the words “Prada.” If the lining does not follow the pattern, it’s a replica.

Tip: Beware of the interior fabric lining as some high-end fake Prada bags are already capable of copying the unique pattern.

5. Examine the Authenticity Card and its Envelope

For most fake bags, it doesn’t come with the original packaging such as the envelope and authenticity card. These are already dead giveaways of a counterfeit one. However, more manufacturers are getting better as they now include the actual wrapping. Fortunately, they still can’t perfectly imitate the quality of the real Prada products.

I found out that the replica Prada authenticity card envelope is significantly different in color and texture than the real one. It’s a darker violet with an obvious diagonal pattern compared to the genuine’s matte clear texture.

In addition, the fake Prada authenticity card is white but with a tinge of blue or violet tint. The real card should be pure white and its characters should have proper spacing and perfectly aligned.
